Thailand was voted the favourite sailing venue and best regatta location in Asia in a survey conducted at the 2011 Phuket King's Cup Regatta of international sailors from around the world. Thailand was voted as having the best sailing grounds and destinations due to an ideal geography, good weather conditions and beautiful scenery.

King's Cup Regatta Phuket was inaugurated on 5th Dec 1987 to enjoy the 60th birthday of His Majesty the Master. It has been organised yearly every season since, during the first weeks time of Dec, in honor of His Majesty who graciously decided to be client of the occasion.
With the Elegant Patronage of His Majesty the Master, the Regatta is organized by the Phuket King's Cup Regatta Planning Panel under the auspices of the Elegant Varuna Luxury yacht Team, along with the Luxury yacht Rushing Organization of Thailand, the Elegant Indian Deep blue blue and the Region of Phuket.
The sessions of yacht are: racing, visiting, sea visiting, multi-hull, traditional keel vessels and Farr Platus. Opponents and their vessels come from all over the globe, such as powerful contingents from Japan, Modern australia, New Zealand, The united states and European countries.
